Elijah and the Prophets of Baal -story with illustrations New Window	King James Version by The Holy Spirit with notes by Katie Stewart	9-2-2000	Elijah stood before "ALL" his backslidden nation. Sin was their reproach. But the LORD God Almighty, in "wrath remember[ed] mercy" (Habakkuk 3:2). These wayward children of Israel had no excuse. They had a rich history-- as do we-- of just Who exactly God was, is, and always will be. "Unto thee it was showed, that thou mightest KNOW that the LORD He is God; there is none else beside Him" (Deuteronomy 4:35). He is The Great "I AM THAT I AM" (Exodus 3:14)... Elijah's task was to demonstrate to this deceived Israel that God was God-- the Only God! He approached "boldly unto the Throne of Grace, that [he might] obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need" (Hebrews 4:16). And it was God's merciful grace that allowed Elijah the opportunity to challenge the people to a trial by fire.

Pierson	[1837-1811]	"GEORGE MUELLER was a man, who, during his 92 years of life, even though himself a poor man in material substance, knew how to have power with God to get answers to his prayers. And with that ability he set forth a praying example for all time, and for all the world to hear of, and testify to, the very fact that GOD TRULY ANSWERS PRAYER! With this holy demonstration, he built 5 large orphan houses, housed over 10,000 orphans, a third of whom came to love the LORD, received almost 7 1/2 million dollars, over 50,000 specific answers to prayer spread over several branches of his ministry, including the support of hundreds of missionaries, Christian publishing and distribution, and supporting educational and religious schools for all ages. Also, when most men slow down in their 'twilight' years, Mr. Mueller-- between the ages of seventy to eighty-seven-- began 17 years of missionary tours travelling over 200,000 miles, in 42 countries, spreading the Gospel to 3 million people. In his life he preached well over 10 thousand sermons and read the Bible over 200 times-- on his knees.
